The English concertina is the original concertina as created by Sir Wheatstone. The English concertina usually has 48 keys although some models have 56 keys. In order to play a scale the player has to alternate from left to right hand, which allows for rapid playing. Unlike an Anglo concertina, the English concertina will produce the same sound whether the bellows are squeezed or pulled and a button pressed. Wheatstone is one of the most desirable name when it comes to used concertina, other good brands include Crabb, Jones and Lachenal.
